Inconsistent friction on iPad screen using Apple pencil

I don’t know how nobody is talking about this. I bought a 2020 iPad Pro after coming off of the 2018 iPad Pro, and ALL THREE iPad Pro 2020 that I’ve used have had the same issue with differing levels of seriousness.

The glass doesn’t feel like glass—instead is tacky (which isn’t much of a problem for me) however the problem comes when using the Apple Pencil. When using the pencil, parts of the screen are smooth as glass and other parts are rough. I’ve tried cleaning it using cloths, and used my finger to rub off the material and it still persists.

This is unacceptable for a product of this price range.

I am having exactly the same issue. There is a fundamental flaw in the new iPad Pro that no one seems to be talking about broadly. Anyone that uses their iPad for drawing or illustrating will very quickly notice that it feels like there are bumps or lags in certain areas of the screen. With my previous iPad Pro 2018, the pencil glides over the screen seamlessly.

We just returned our new iPad, only to be given a new one to try out, and it has the exact same problem. It's a true shame that this hasn't been addressed, because it's only a matter of time before more people notice. We are now returning the second new iPad and pencil, and will go back to using our 2018 iPad Pro, which works smoothly, and will wait it out until the new iPad comes out to see if they have fixed the issue.

I should note that anyone advising on cleaning the screen may not have felt this issue themselves. These are brand new iPads straight out of the pack, perfectly clean, having some clear tracking issues. We tried other iPads in store as well, and they seem to have the same issue. Maybe there are a few bad batches out there?
