iPhone XR calls distorted and unbareable to hear since iOS13.5.1 upgrade!

Since the iOS 13.5.1 upgrade, my iPhone XR is almost useless for phone calls. Calls start off normal, then a few minutes into the conversations the call sounds distorted and callers voices are hard to hear and decipher. I have Verizon and have full bars in my area when this happens. Verizon says it's an Apple issue. I have tried resetting my phone and erasing all settings to try to fix this, but that hasn't helped at all. Phone isn't even 2 years old yet! Anyone else experience this? Or fixes for this?

Hi EMACK78,

Thanks for your post! I understand since the last iOS update, your device produces distorted audio when on calls.

If you haven't already, refer here:

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

If the issue persists, I suggest you sync important information to iCloud, then erase your device and then set up the device as new, without restoring from a backup.

You can use iCloud to save your photos and messages:

Set up and use iCloud Photos

Keep all your messages in iCloud

Turn on anything else you need in Settings > tap [your name] > iCloud, then erase your iPhone.

How to erase your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

After erase, set up your iPhone as new:

Set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Remember, step 5, select "Don't Transfer Apps & Data"

You will need to re-download your apps again, and change any settings you customized previously.

Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books

Let us know what you find out!

Take care!
