can my iPhone 11 be hacked? (39 viruses warning)

I was on safari and I'm not sure if i misspelled the website i intended to go on but as soon as i pressed search this message popped up that said "your iPhone has been hacked and 39 viruses were found" and something about needing to act in 2 minutes or my sim card would be compromised and that I had to click at the bottom where it said close. I didn't click anything and just exited out. my concern is that i had something to attend to and had to leave my phone alone for about 3 hours. out of paranoia i just factory reset it and changed my apple id password. am i safe?

All such messages are scams. For future reference, simply close the offending page, and avoid sites that are involved in such bogus advertising tactics.
