black screen

On my iPhone XR the screen is black. If I force restart it I get the screen where I can put in my password. When I do, I get the black screen again. I know it's "working" because I get notification sounds & my laptop can "use my iPhone" to make and receive phone calls. Once in a while, the desktop scene shows up with the time, the flashlight icon, the camera icon, and a message to swipe up to unlock. I swipe up and get the black screen again. Has anyone else had this problem? If yes or no, do you know how I can fix it?
