imac airplay issue

Using iMac 10.15.5, am unable to maintain connection between iMac and Sony TV airplay if trying to connect using music application.

No problem when using icon in menu bar and mirroring; issue occurs solely when trying to connect through music airplay icon or sound preferences.

Only been a problem over the last couple of days and since using ethernet rather than wi-fi, however wi-fi no longer works either.

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated, have tried everything I can think of.

Thanks for your reply, I'm not using wi-fi at the moment, using ethernet, however the TV and iMac are both on the same network and have tried with ethernet off and on two different networks (and in fact two different ISP) with the same result. As I mentioned this has only been a problem in the last couple of days since I changed to an ethernet connection between the TV and iMac, prior to that there was no problem with Wi-Fi, but subsequent to connection through ethernet the iMac will not recognise the TV either through opening sound preferences or the music application, even though the TV is presented as an option.

If I do choose the TV option the TV turns on but then the internet connection drops out for a few seconds.
