MacbookPro Mail doesnt synch with Gmail

Hello, everyone,

when I work in Apple Mail on my MacBookPro (Retina 2014, Catalina 10.15.5) in my Gmail account, it will NOT sync back with my Gmail folder. This means that if I e.g. archive a mail into a Gmail folder on my MacBook, it will later NOT be displayed in my actual Gmail (i.e. on my gmail-account under www.gmail.com). I can only find this mail on my MacBook. Therefore the Gmail account also can't be synchronised with my iPhone.

Interestingly, the other way around the synchronization works very well. If I archive a mail from Gmail on my iPhone, I can see it in my MacBook-Mail shortly afterwards.

I also tried this with another mail-provider (GMX) and here the synchronisation works. I.e. whatever I move on my MacBook I shortly after can see on my iPhone (and vice versa).

Does anyone have an idea what this might be due to?

I understand that you are having an issue with your Mail app not syncing with your Gmail account. Let's start with testing the issue in a new user and see if the same issue occurs. The following support article will provide guidance on creating and testing in a new user:

Hi Brenden,

indeed, logging in & logging off with a new user, and then logging again with my normal user account did the trick. It seems that moved G-mails synchronising again between the devices.
