Cannot reintsalling Sierra after I formated my HD

I'm having issues reintsalling Sierra after I formated my hard drive. Can anyone help?

I think Catalina was originally installed, I erased the two HD drives and rebooted, It wanted to install Sierra but showed 2 HD drives, I click on he first (Mac HD) it started to install and failed. I have tried serveral times since and nothing.

From your first screenshot I can see that your HD is formatted as APFS.

APFS is a file system only available for High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina.

macOS Sierra needs to be installed on a drive formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

on a GUID Partition Map.

You also say that Catalina was originally installed, does that mean that this is a new mac,

if it is a new mac and came with Catalina preinstalled then you cannot install an older

OS.

If you are in Recovery Mode the mac will try to install the OS that it came preinstalled with.

In your case that is macOS Sierra.

As I said earlier Sierra can only be installed on a disk that is formatted as Mac OS X Extended (Journaled),

you need to reformat the disk using Disk Utility.

Highlight the uppermost disk (Apple APFS Media) in the left hand panel.

Click on Erase.

Give the Disk a name.

Format: Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)

Scheme: GUID Partition Map

Click on Erase.

Quit Disk Utility and then see if you can download Sierra to your mac.

For best results make sure your mac is connected to your router via cable.

There may be more troubles ahead.
