Apple keyboard is not controlling and navigating in many of my Apple tv apps

About 3 months ago the Apple keyboard that I was using to completely control my Apple TV and apps stopped working in some of my apps. For example in Netflix if I use the down or up arrow the selection in Netflix just goes crazy in an endless scroll that I can't stop. It won't control anything in HBOMax at all and Youtube I can't control anything either. I've reset the Apple TV but that didn't do anything. Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated.
