Google keeps shutting down

Since the last iPhone update the Google app keeps shutting down on my iPhone XR after about twenty seconds. I have tried rebooting and it has done nothing. There is no new update for Google so that is not the problem either. I have been using Google Chrome for searches but I much prefer the Google. Has anyone had this problem and if so what have you done to solve it? Also I have tons of available memory so that is not the problem either. I really miss Google and I hope someone can help.
