Can not change Apple ID to alias

I need to change my Apple ID to one of my aliases since I created it a long time ago and now this strange Apple ID is showing up when sending people an calendar invite :(

Changing the Apple ID to an alias should be possible as per https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT202667

However, when I try to do so I can only choose to change my main Apple ID to the variants of @me.com, @mac.com and @icloud.com but not the several other aliases (of course with @me.com, @mac.com and @icloud.com) I have.

My aliases are all available under https://www.icloud.com/mail/

What am I doing wrong?

You should be able to do what you want. Right, but that does not mean you can't do it. Look in your Apple ID account (https://appleid.apple.com/#!&page=signin) and see what is available to you again. name@me.com and name@icloud.com (current) are the only aliases you can have. See iCloud: About your @icloud.com, @me.com, and @mac.com email addresses https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201771.

"I want to get rid of bellringer79@... and instead have alexander.gloeckner@... (which I have as Apple ID alias)" Note that you cannot do that.

Thanks for the answer. The newer instructions does not contain changing the Apple ID to an Apple ID alias.

I want to simple change the Apple ID (bellringer79@...) to one of my aliases, but I can only choose:

bellringer79@mac.com

bellringer79me.com

bellringer79@icloud.com (current)

I want to get rid of bellringer79@... and instead have alexander.gloeckner@... (which I have as Apple ID alias)

Ok got it, so the so those iCloud Mail aliases doesn't count to the Apple ID alias. https://share.getcloudapp.com/kpu550jv

That's unfortunate that there is no way or migration available. OK thanks for your help.
