Apple TV (3rd Gen.) "Accessing TV" but nothing comes up.

I have read the Apple Support info and check all my settings. I have a Free year of Apple TV+ but have not been able to access it. I can access my purchased (iTunes) items. I just get the "Accessing TV" words and the revolving icon until finally the screen saver kicks in. Any suggestions?
