my mail quits unexpectedly

Hello. My mail quits unexpectedly. It happens once every three or four days. It happens more often when I try to send a message. I hit Send and then Mail quits and then when I reopen the Mail app it sends the message. It also sends a log report to Apple. I have tried a few things, but they did not help, for example

rebuilt my mailbox
started in safe mode, but it also happened there
deleted some very old messages

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

Thanks for your reply. I did that but nothing happened. I did not get any feedback window saying for example, "mail rebuilding mailbox" or "mailbox rebuilt successfully", etc. I will keep using mail and maybe the problem was fixed.

Hi BDAqua, What I did was to replace the RAM memory modules for the original Apple modules that I had. Mail worked fine for a few days but today I had another unexpected quit. So I don't think it is the memory. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

If you have no POP accounts & they’re all IMAP accounts then in Mail’s Mailbox menu choose Rebuild.
