Outlook 365 won't open since upgrading to OS Catalina 10.15.5

Hi, does anyone have a solution for outlook 365 refusing to open after upgrading to Catalina 10.15.5?

So far have tried the following without success:

  • Created new default outlook profile - no change, existing profile not corrupted
  • Moved plist files to bin - no change, still wouldn't open
  • Checked font manager - no new font manager since April this year so not the cause
  • Created new Mac profile, installed autoupdater again and ran updates, still wouldn't open
  • Deleted any MS Office or Outlook keychains - still wouldn't open
  • 2.5hrs online with Microsoft support who then said they couldn't resolve

All other MS Office programs up to date and working fine.

All. help much appreciated. Thank you

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

The usual solutions to this problem involve font problems, plist corruption, or a damaged profile. It seems that you have already eliminated those possibilities. So the next step would be to completely uninstall Office 365, restart your Mac, and log into the Office 365 portal and download and install a fresh new version. The complete uninstall takes longer than the reinstall because the uninstall requires some manual steps.

Here is a link with instructions for completely uninstalling Office 365. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/mac-outlook-2016-1632-wont-open-on-catalina-10152/96ebae40-cfd5-44cc-97d5-45f20a7adb94

You need to not only put the program files in the Trash and empty it, but you have to remove a number of other related Office files. The link includes another link with explicit instructions. Others who had your problem and who followed those instructions completely had their issue resolved (the instructions from a Microsoft employee were marked as "solved" so they did work for someone).
