When I inserted CD or DVD into my external Verbatim Slimline Blu-ray Writer was not recoganized. I already checked with Finder and system preference all show it. I can able to eject the CD form the writer through desktop icon, but able to play it. Anybody can help to resolve the issue. My system was Mac OS Catalina 10.15.5

How are you trying to play them with what?

Is this a data disc or a video DVD disc? Commercial or self-made?
can’t see the files both audio & video. Insert the dvd into the verbatim slimline blu-ray writer. After a while the dvd ejected automatically.
CD, DVD not recoganized and play back.
