Hi RandomPersona,

Thank you for replying with that information! To narrow this down, I recommend trying the tests below. These will help you work out if it's a system-wide issue, and to rule out certain software causes.

First, try testing in a newly-created administrator account: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Once you've tested in a new user, try testing in safe mode as well: How to use safe mode on your Mac. After testing, you can click Apple menu () > Restart to get back to normal.

Feel free to reply back here with the results! Kind regards.

Hello RandomPersona,

Thanks for posting your question. If I understand correctly, you're unable to open a .jar file on your Mac.

You posted some information from Console. When you open the .jar file, what exactly happens outside of Console?

Are you able to open other files with the same extension?

Which exact macOS version are you using under Apple menu () > About This Mac?

Is Java installed on your Mac? Get Java for your Mac

Take care.
