iPad Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max no longer connect to the internet through Wifi Repeater

Hi there,


I have an unchanged Wifi setup with a WPS Connected Wifi Repeater (Netgear) and suddenly neither my iPad Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max will work with the Repeater.


Sometimes they won’t connect but usually they will connect to the repeater, which has a separate SSID, but will not connect through to the internet?!?!


I’ve had the same netgear repeater connected to the same talk talk router for many months without issue but now my apple devices can’t secure and internet connection unless connected to the routers own wifi. Other, non apple, devices don’t seem to have any problem with the same wifi repeater.


Any ideas very welcomely received.

As described, I’d be looking for a problem with correct functioning of DHCP between the WiFi Router and repeater.


If you take a look at the WiFi Settings on your iPad, you should find that you’ll be assigned an IP Address for your iPad - and a Router IP Address (the default gateway address) that corresponds with your local network. If either of these addresses are missing, or do not correspond with your main network, then DHCP is broken.


If so, while you fault-find, you may be able to workaround the problem by manually setting a valid static IP Address (that is outside of your DHCP address-range) and the Router address.


You might find that a restart of your WiFi network will resolve the problem. Start by restarting your WiFi Router - and after it restarts, restart the Repeater, then finally restart your devices.
