Syncing allows you to copy media from a library to a device over a USB or wireless connection. Home Sharing is a feature that allows your library to be viewed from other computers or devices connected to the same local area network when all are using the same Apple ID.

Hi Charles-Tsui, I see you would like to know the difference between “Sync” and “Home Sharing”
I’m assuming you are on about “Sync” with Apple Music. If so “sync” basically keeps all your devices synced up. So for example if you add a song from Apple Music to your Library on your iPhone, it will sync to your iCloud music library, and then that song will be added to all your other devices signed into your Apple ID.
Syncing from a computer on iTunes or finder in Catalina allows you to copy Files from your computer to your iPhone, iPad etc.
Home Sharing allows you to control, play and see what’s on your Mac or PC on iTunes or the music app in Catalina. You have to be connected to the same WiFi network, and your computer and phone need to be signed into the same Apple ID.
I will leave some links below that will describe this in more detail if you would like to read further.
