How do you free up storage by moving photos and apps to the iCloud

If you are using iCloud photos, you can't simply delete photos from your phone without them getting deleted from the cloud.


You can however, optimise the photos on your phone so they take up less room.


Settings ➔ Photos & camera ➔ Optimise iPhone(iPad/iPod) Storage

You cannot move apps to iCloud either. That’s not how it works. Apps are never uploaded to iCloud. You can delete them from your device which also deletes that data or you can offload them in the settings which retains the data on the device. If you decide to delete apps, you can download them again using the same Apple ID that you used to purchase them and as long as they are still available in the App Store.
