Battery Cycle

My macbook air (purchased new last summer) has a "service battery" warning but only has a cycle count of 226. Thought it was 1000? My computer has shut off with no warning twice in the last week although the battery was still at greater than 50%. Anyone have an recommendations on what's wrong or what to do?

Macbook air service battery warning and shut down without low battery notification Hi, I have a 2017 Macbook Air 13", which is only two years old. The "Service Battery" warning recently appeared, but there are only 290 cycles and it suddenly shuts down without any warning or something else at 30-50% battery. Do I really need to change the battery soon? There aren't any Apple Store in our country. I've tried SMC Reset and Battery calibration. Is it from the battery or from another hardware chip or something?

You might try resetting that Mac's SMC: How to reset the SMC of your Mac. That might fix it. If not, get it fixed. If your Mac is less than a year old it's definitely under warranty.
