iphone overheating

I was on a FT call and my phone overheated and the warning came on. Did the call disconnect right away?

Greetings amy1702,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! I understand your iPhone had the temperature warning screen appear, and you're curious if it disconnected your FaceTime call.

When the temperature warning screen is displayed, the call will disconnect, and only emergency calls might be available: Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support

"If you see a temperature warning screen

If the device exceeds a certain temperature threshold, it will present a temperature warning screen similar to this:

An iPhone showing this message might still be able to make emergency calls.

To resume use of your device as quickly as possible, turn it off, move it to a cooler environment, and allow it to cool down."

Additionally, I suggest checking the battery health of your iPhone: iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support

"For iPhone 6 and later, iOS 11.3 and later add new features to show battery health and recommend if a battery needs to be replaced. These can be found in Settings > Battery > Battery Health."

Kind regards.
