Exporting Midi files. Does not work correctly.

Logic Pro 10.5.1

With 10.5.1 Apple fixed some of the weirdest problems I've ever encountered in a DAW. That said, today I found another strange issue. When I export a midi file from Logic 10.5.1 and reimport it into Logic 10.5.1, it puts every measure of each instrument on a new track. You end up with maybe thousands tracks, depending on how many instruments or how long your song is. This was really weird. Importing a midi file created on a different DAW was not a problem. I have a recently purchased 16 inch 8 core i9 processor Mac Book Pro. It was the first time I'd ever seen the spinning color wheel of death on this computer. Imagine the shock.
