my iMac is using High Sierra. I need to upgrade since my iMac will no longer allow me to watch streaming video from Xfinity.. I am not confident in jumping to Catalina. Is there an operating system other than the Catalina operating system that I could update to? If so, how do I find it on the App Store?

The error usually means the App Store has detected a copy of the Install macOS Mojave.app in your Applications folder.
Go to the Applications folder locate Install macOS Mojave.app.
Move it to the Trash, empty the Trash.
Restart, click on the link again, the App Store should say ‘Get' or 'Download'.

Well, You can update from the App Store.
Or you can make an install media, but be sure, all of your important data has been saved (or made a backup from them).
If you choose the install media, when you have written the Catalina into an USB disk, then you need to restart your mac, and boot in to the installation USB.

I mean.. The Software before Catalina was Mojave. You could try to update to Mojave instead. I don't know if that's the answer you were looking for but I hope it was.

I believe the most import thing to be afraid is if the App you want to use is 64bit, cause macOS Catalina will not run any 32Bits app.

If I go to the link and try to download I get the following errot message:
