I know this is a pretty stupid question but at one point in time I had a Windows Computer and something similar happened. I understand Mac's generally don't get viruses but I like to be on the safe side.
If the wallpaper is an image, and not a malware package with a image extension, or a needless wallpaper installer that could be harboring malware, then no — if you directly download the wallpaper image. Avoid sites that have more download buttons, and adverstisements than images though.

Just ensure that the image to be saved has a legitimate image extension before downloading it.
So if I go look up an image, go to images, and save an image to my computer, it should be fine, right?
