USB randomly disconnect/eject/not workings, like out of blue

Hi 👋

I recently bought MacBook Pro 2020, just delivered few days ago. As I connect my USB wired Logitech gaming keyboard and wired mouse, out of of the sudden, its not working. The cursor not moving when I moved my mouse, they keyboard no response as I keep typing, yet the light on my keyboard and mouse still on. Is this USB adapter problem or MacBook Pro 2020 no longer accept keyboard with other brand? Any chance to fix this ? Is it me have this issue ?

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities, FrontEndDeveloperMY!

It sounds like you’re unable to use a third-party USB keyboard and mouse with your MacBook Pro. I’d be happy to help you out.

While I know you’re using a Logitech keyboard and mouse, If your Apple keyboard doesn't work - Apple Support has some great general troubleshooting steps under “Steps for a USB keyboard”. These steps can also help for the wired mouse too.

If you’re still unable to use these devices with your Mac, I’d recommend reaching out to Logitech for assistance, as they may require drivers or other software to work with your Mac. You can reach them using: Submit a request – Logitech Support + Download or you can try and locate those yourself using their support documents at their website: Logitech Support + Download

Cheers!

This is not the problem. Regardless of whose USB peripheral you use, it is dropped by the OS at random. It also does not matter if your USB is via an Apple adapter, through a display, or through a hub. It also does not matter if you use a 2020 MBP or a 2019 MBP. I can provide more data if required.

The blogosphere seems to indicate that Catalina does not recognize USA peripherals unless there is a Thunderbolt hub, as opposed to USB-C hug. Can you confirm that this is a MAC OS issue and will be addressed soon? Otherwise many Mac users are re-starting their computers several times a day....

Or am I missing something completely?

Hi sarah_s1. Thanks for your reply. I did download and install Logitech keyboard driver, and as for mouse, it's just a regular mouse, which also Logitech brand. Anyway, I tried with other keyboard and mouse, turn out it will stop working anytime too. The weird part is the light on my keyboard still on but no response when I typing. I tried to unplug and plug in again, keyboard no response at all. After 1 or 2 hours, I try plug in again and it's work, however it stop working again after a while.

I'm having the same issue with MacBook Pro 2020 13'', the Logitech keyboard and mouse are connected to my monitor in USB A and the monitor is connected to the MacBook with USB Type-C, I also installed the necessary drivers.

I see the exact same behaviour randomly, the mouse and keyboard are working fine but after some time they are not responding and the keyboard light is still on.

I tried to configure the Energy Saver and went thorough Apples' guide to connect third party keyboards but I still see the same behaviour.
