Adaptor Needed for 2012 MacBook use with Pocket Charger

I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro and I'm trying to figure out how to plug it into my pocket charger. My pocket charger has usb-a ports like my MacBook, but can I power my MacBook through those ports? I don't think so, right? If so, how can I connect my charger to my computer's power port so that I can charge my computer while traveling? Is that possible?

A typical "pocket" charge, such as the one for an iPad, produces 5 VOLTS at 0.5 Amps. A more powerful version might produce 5 Volts at 0.9 Amps. That's 4.5 Watts

Your MacBook Pro 13-in needs a 60 Watt charger, (15-in model needs a 90 Watts) and uses about 16 to 20 Volts [note: HIGHER that 12 Volts] input. This can only be arranged from a device that uses USB Power Delivery, and negotiates this higher voltage, which most "pocket" chargers can not do.

At 16 Volts, a charger that produces 60 Watts is a 3.8 Amp (or higher)charger. That will no longer fit in your pocket.

For DC power, Watts = Volts * Amps.

There ARE power banks that are intended specifically for charging MacBook Pro 13-in computers. Typically the size of a paperback book or larger, and cost in excess of US$200.
