Apple Maps is in Kilometers (I'm in the US)

My desktop version of Apple Maps is showing distances in kilometers.

How do I change it to Miles?

I don't have a VPN on or anything.

In Maps click on View in the menubar and scroll down to Distances, select Miles.

What is set for Region in Language & Region System Prefs?

How about measurement unit in the General Tab under the Advanced… button?

Went to do that ('distances' in 'view') and it's already set to 'miles.' Now the directions are in miles though I didn't change anything.

Weird.

It's all set to US and related measurements (farenheit, etc.) in both Region and the measurement units.
