My always on button is in the ON position but the watch does not stay on all the time

My Apple Watch series 5 will not stay in even though I have the “Always On” feature on.

"always on" doesn't work after turn off on Always on was the reason I bought a series 5 apple watch. Despite disabluing always on turning the watch off and on and enabling it The watch still goes black What next ?

Check to see if you have theatre mode turned on in the control centre.
