Internal speakers "disappeared"

My internal speakers are no longer displayed in my sound system preferences. I have no sound on my computer.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.13

I understand you're not seeing the speakers for your Mac displayed in sound preferences. I know it's important to have your speakers working on your Mac, and I want to help.
