AC Adapter to Charge iPod Classic

I have an iPod Classic and the USB cable that is used to connect it to a computer, but have recently lost access to a computer to connect it to and accordingly to a way to charge it. Is it safe to use the iPod cable with a USB ac adapter used to charge iPhones and plug it into the wall to charge the iPod, or will it damage the iPod if I do that?
