I'm using QuickTime Player for the first time to record an online seminar on an iMac G5 (High Sierra 10.13.6). I'm using picture-in-picture from the iMac camera on top of a PowerPoint presentation. Is there some way I can change my image from landscape to portrait ratio? I'd like to eliminate the unnecessary background .
I was told that the iMac camera has a fixed aspect ratio, so I've decided to buy an after-market webcam more suited to what I need.

It sounds like you are trying to use QuickTime Player on your Mac to record an online seminar. If the presenter has granted permission to do this, you can record just the portion of the screen that you want. The resource below explains how:

I am the presenter, and I'm trying to change the aspect ratio on the iMac camera so that when I use picture-in-picture to add my face over PowerPoint slides, it shows a smaller aspect ratio than wide-angle.
