update crashed phone

I was just in the middle of trying to update my iphone Xs MAx when it kept saying it had failed. i was connected to wifi and after the 3rd attempt i restarted my phone. i now cannot turn it back on and it keeps cycling between a black screen and a black screen with apple logo. has anyone else had this issue and managed to solve it?

Ive tried the reset method of pressing and releasing the volume up, then volume down and then holding the power button and it hasnt made a difference.
