2011 Mac Mini A1347 HD bay cables

It seems Apple has very confusingly named the internal flex cables for the bay they DON’T apply to.

As in, part# 076-1413, 922-9560, which is for connection to a drive in the TOP bay, is referred to as LOWER.

Can anyone confirm this?

From what I can tell it looks like 076-1413 is the cable for the upper bay for a dual drive server model and 922-9560 is the cable for the lower bay.

If you are looking for a cable for the upper bay or to add a second drive in the upper bay, check out the data doubler kit at OWC.

Keep in mind that the Mac Mini is upside down when you are working on it and that the lower bay is the first bay under the metal grill. Plus that the logic board, power supply and upper bay tray must be removed to access or add a drive in the upper bay.

A bit more research reveals that you are correct about those two part numbers. However, the descriptions sometimes come up with the word LOWER associated to the cable that is clearly the one for the top bay. I think Apple did this so that owners could use the word that appears in System Info to order the correct part prior to disassembly. Just looking for confirm or not.

No sorry, I just wasn't sure if you were looking for a cable or just general info. When I googled those part numbers, I also noticed a couple of sites that were not providing accurate information.

My 2010, 2011 and both 2012 Mac Mini's all report the Lower bay as the bay closest to the bottom and the Upper bay as the one closest to the top. FWIW I have 2 of those upper bay data doubler cables from OWC. My 2011 has an SSD in the lower bay and an HDD in the upper bay, plus one of my 2012's has dual SSD's.
