Iphone update Unknown error (14)

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the Iphone 10XR. It's only a year old and My daughter has is jammed packed and I dont think she had it backed up to the iCloud, she's 11.. The phone kept freezing over the last week or so forcing me to do a Hard reset several times. The last time it frove and wouldnt do anything. So i tried the volume up, volume down and then held the power button and got he promp to plug in the cable to iTunes. I then downloaded the software update for the phone to my iMac (after freeing up much needed space in order to do so.) Finaly got that to work pluged the phone in and got the following messages, Contacting iPhone, verifying updated Iphone software, updating Iphone software The wite line on the phone started to move(loading software I assume)? It got 3/4's of the way done when I got this message. . .The "iPhone" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred. (14). Trying to avoid a complete restore at all cost! Tried the Hard reset, the Update Iphone software, and the recover then got that message. Wondering if anybody has any info on unknown error code (14) or any help at all thats. Dad of a devestated daughter. Thanks.
