icloud storage full

My iCloud storage got overfilled. I have deleted more than the needed files, but it hasn't changed the status. Current icloud drive is 1.4 TB, but on iCloud storage it reads as 2154.7 GB. Hasn't updated with all the file deletions. How can I get it to update?

I have read on another site about reserved storage space issues. If it is this type of issue how can I resolve it?

I attached screenshots showing the relevant storage discrepancies

You can see the section - Reduce Clutter

In the article https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT206996

Most of the space is consumed by documents ( it could be massive ) , you can select each document click on size if not required delete them .

In your screen shot , if you click on finder > under iCloud section > Documents you had created your own personal documents and use get info https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mchlp1774/10.15/mac/10.15

You right clicked on iCloud Drive itself then used get info ( the complete iCloud Drive size having documents / files / folders in side It and their total number are displayed ) .

However , they have occupied a lot of space in internal hard drive , and still you are using maximum iCloud storage plan that is 2TB .

If they are precious and you don't want to remove them move in some other location as described in the article https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mchl1a02d711/10.14/mac/10.14

And then delete the unwanted massive size documents / files / folder that are created in trash , and empty the trash .

And for " other documents " only apple support can refresh the account from their end and reduce the data .

Contact senior advisors in apple support see this link https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT201232

What ever the questions are asked for your identity answer them , I contacted them in my Mac previous storage in other documents was more now it is reduced , we are members in this forum and can't speak on behalf of them and how they reduced the space ( but they reduced from their end only , these are temporarily files ) that method should not be posted here as what forum rules says ( and they can only erase the unnecessary files or data from server ) , make sure you always turn on iCloud Drive desktops and documents box is to be checked , many users have tendency to uncheck it .

What will happen , if the data is exceeded it will show error , either increase the storage plan , first archive the data it could be on external hard drive or according to situations delete unwanted stuff .

From your end you can also repair disk permissions / use safe mode / create new test user account - but new test will not help its an error from iCloud server end and we users have no tools to reduce it , perhaps following the articles and reducing documents from Mac .

From Mac user end .

See some articles to reduce the data https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT204247

I have already reduced clutter in deleting a lot of documents. It originally had the 2+TB of other documents in the iCloud Drive when I went in there. After having backed up these docs to external drives, I deleted them as seen in the iCloud Drive info, but it hasn't changed the iCloud storage status. If I understand from your last sentence you are saying that for me to see this change Apple support needs to refresh the account from their end?
