I have a PowerBook G4 that will not boot up. It appears to be starting up with the Apple and the spinning icon, but will not go beyond that. It started earlier today and I was able to access some of my older files, but later it froze and now will not start up. Any advice? Thank you in advance.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?
Sounds like the drive is dying, do you have the Install Disc to boot from holding c key at startup?
I believe it’s the hard drive itself after trying to use target disk mode and pulling the hard drive out to connect via external wires. Now determining if it’s worth paying to recover the data. Thanks for your help.
In Safe Mode, there is an apple without the spinning icon. Still unable to start up.
