Airpods mic on Macbook sounds like a robot - no solution yet?

I've seen there are plenty of people complaining that at some point their AirPods microphone start not working correctly when connected to their MacBook.

I've exactly the same situation. Airpods work flawlessly with iPhone and iPad and even on my old MacBook Pro!

But then connect to my new MacBook Pro - the mic sounds like a robot. They used to work well also here up to one week ago. :(

Is there any solution?

I've already "forgot the AirPods" and re-paired them, reboot Mac/iPhone, forgot the AirPods (also from all devices via cloud), repaired, again. No solution. Looks like a codec problem. But how to "reset" the bluetooth config??
