Hi,
"Sleep Wake Failure" is common macOS bug. Some people say resetting SMC could solve the problem, though others are not.
I experienced it once, also on iMac Late 2012. It disappeared after upgrade RAM, though.
If it repeats appears on your MacBook Pro, you'd better contact Apple support or make Genius Bar reservation to tell them about "Sleep Wake Failure" bug.

You should paste whole kernel panic log which is located at /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports to examines it more easily.
