Apple Watch not recording bike ride as exercise

I have an Apple Watch (2nd Gen). I will ride my bike for 40-50 minutes. At the beginning of the ride I will start the "Outdoor Cycle - Open Goal" in the native watch workout app. When I'm done the recorded time for exercise time will be just a few minutes (like 4-5) instead of anything even remotely close to 40-50. Does anyone know why that is? My heart rate is typically in a good zone since where I ride has lots of ups and downs.

Hi andrewwwwwwwwwwww,

I understand you Apple Watch is not recording the full workout.

I would recommend restarting your Apple Watch. You can learn how to do so here: How to restart your Apple Watch.

ItIf the issue persists, I would recommend unpairing, then re-pairing your Apple Watch. You can learn how to do so here: Unpair and erase your Apple Watch and Set up and pair Apple Watch with iPhone.

Hope this helps!
