Can family share members continue to use their own icloud account

My wife,daughter and I have a shared i cloud account u der a family share group. I'd like to add my father to the family share so he can use our apple music family plan. Can he still use his own icloud account for phone backups or will he automatically be added to the shared I cloud account?

In order to use Family Sharing properly, you all need an Apple ID.

If you aren't you're not using Family Sharing correctly.
