What did you add more storage to?
When adding storage, that is performed through iCloud. It is not added directly on your iPhone. If you need to get more space on your iPhone, then remove large files (i.e. TV Show Episodes and Movies). If you are not receiving eMails, then remove this eMail address from your account, and then add it back.
