use of Word & Excel with Catalina

Just updated to Catalina. Do not want to subscribe to Microsoft 365, so attempted to update Word and Excel separately from App Store. When opened, the only option to proceed without subscription is "read-only." Following other threads here, looked for Office 2019 in App Store. Couldn't find. Is there another way to use only Word & Excel?

Excel and word program in macOS Catalina I updated my Imac to new software version macOS Catalina Version 10.15.01 After updating my excel and word program stopped working. It is advised to update the same to Microsoft office 365. Price of MS Office 365 is high and I don't want to buy the same. I have already accepted free trial period of one month. Pl inform how can I cancel subscription during free trials period of one month before it is charged in my credit card. Catalina Compatibility with MS Office Hi! Suddenly with Mac OS Catalina (10.15.7), it seems the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) no longer work. The App Store just refers to "get MS Office 365", but that means extra cost, and I don't like 365 (had it on a WIN pc). What to do? I like the slightly simpler Office, plus find a change in OS should not make apps no longer work.

THANK YOU! They didn't make it easy, but I finally found Office for Home & Student 2019. They really push hard for subscription, but we got what we needed. Thanks again. You saved me!
