Connecting an Arlo Pro 3 cameras and the Hub through the AirPort Time Capsule A1470

Hi, I have a problem with regarding of connecting Arlo Pro 3 camera set. the Arlo Hub gets connected through the hard wire (solid blue on the Arlo Hub), but it will not be found through the Arlo app on my iPhone (or other Apple devices). It shows that no Arlo devices where found.

The Arlo Hub is working thou with other router, and it will be found wirelessly through the Arlo app.

Can there be something wrong with my AirPort security settings?

Thank you very much for your help!

There is no modem in any Apple router.. but it plugs into the ONT.. so you have ethernet wan connection.

It is easy to check what is going on.. if your phone has internet what is the IP address? Or a computer?

Is it in the same IP range as the Arlo box..

So for example.. the phone is 192.168.1.10 and computer is 192.168.1.11 and the Arlo is 192.168.1.12

In your setup I doubt that is happening.. because your setup is wrong.. you might have things working in IPv6 but unfortunately that will not work for IPv4.

Bridge is the wrong mode in the case where you have no other router.. change it to DHCP and NAT mode.. after a reset and reconfigure. It should detect this is required.. but if not you will have to force it to DHCP and NAT and see if that fixes the problem.

It sounds like the setup of the Airport is wrong. But it is almost impossible for us to trouble shoot with your current level of info.

What is the other router that does work? Make and model please.

Is this actually your main internet router?

How is the TC setup? Bridge or router?

Are you talking about remote access via the Arlo app?? Does the App work when on the local network?

Apple did not conform to UPNP rules for routers which every other brand does.. hence other router has no problem.. Time Capsule has problems.. since Arlo is not Apple product which uses their version of UPNP. NAT-PMP .. pretty much exclusive to Apple. Which makes it useless when you try and mix products from other manufacturers..

I suggest you stick to UPNP router and use the Airport purely in bridge for wireless and perhaps Time Machine.

Great to hear you got it going.

Netgear support has no idea honestly.

Before troubleshooting make sure that gates 80, 123 and 443 are open on your router.

Those ports are only significant on a connection from WAN to LAN and make no difference to connection inside LAN. I have seen Netgear say this as part of their standard answer for ages now.. they just don't get it.

Thank you so much for your answer!

I try to answer to your questions;

The other router was my neighbours, google mech

The AirPort is our actual home router

Router mode on Network settings is switched to: Off (Bridge Mode). (Other options to choose from are DHCP Only or DHCP and NAT)

The Arlo app in my phone works, but when I try to setup the Arlo Base then it cannot find the device through the wifi and Arlo app (or Apple Home app what Arlo also supports). So the Arlo Base is connected to the internet, but it is not showing the device through the wifi.

I have got also a message from Arlo support;

Before troubleshooting make sure that gates 80, 123 and 443 are open on your router.

Also make sure that the base station are connected to port 1 or 2 on your router and the LED is blue.

I hope that the information that I sent for you is something that helps :)

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi,

I hope I did understand the question correctly, but yes, theAirPort model A1470 EMC 2635 2Tb is the only device that we have. So it is a modem and a router. It has 3 ethernet LAN ports, 1 WAN port and one USP2 port.

https://support.apple.com/kb/sp679?locale=en_US

It is connected to the glassfiber network of our household. The internet provider is Elisa in Finland (if it helps :D)

I hope I did answer to you correctly

Thank you so much for your time!

I am sorry, I'm not the sharpest pencil in the IT pencil box, thats why I have chosen Apple :)

Now back to topic, I changed the Off (bridge) mode to DHCP and NAT. After that I can see the LAN connected IP address, and it is not the same as with the other devices (as you wrote). It is shorter with 2.1.3.1 set of numbers, where 3 number set is the same as other addresses.

With the IPv6 there is no setup for me to find AirPort Utility, Internet.

IPv6 DNS Servers: -empty

: -empty

Internet Options;

Configure IPv6: Automatically

IPV6 Mode: Native

IPv4 thou has address.

Arlo tecnical support sent me an other answer;

Before troubleshooting make sure that gates 80, 123 and 443 are open on your router.

Also, that DHCP-settings are active.

Please, be aware that the base station has to be connected directly into router (port 1 or port 2)

If it could help, then I would restore the internet settings to the default and start again, but I have not found that option for Airport. I would not like to reset the AP to the factory reset, as I have there 2Tb of everything. As I found out that data will be lost with this factory reset. I have made soft reset to AirPort.
