iPhone calculator settings

I'm living in Europe so my iPhone calculator has the settings of the decimal point where the American settings use the comma and the comma where the Americans use the decimal point. This has become a problem when trying to transfer funds to banks in America where if I want to transfer $1,000.00 (one thousand dollars) my phone types the number $1.000,00 so American banks read it as one hundred thousand dollars and will not allow me to transfer funds. I'm checking to see if there is some way to adjust the settings on the iPhone calculator to reflect the American comma and decimal point settings.
