So my iPhone 8 plus was in water for a few minutes and less then a 1m deep, is the phone water proof or not?

. Take the case off, towell dry it, Do not turn it on or use for 24-48 hrs, it might be ok . Mine was.
No. It is not waterproof. It is water resistant.
You should never intentionally submerge it.
