Macbook air 2020 vs MacBook air early 2014 ?

I am planning to buy the basic Macbook air 2020 with a 10th generation 1.1 ghz Dual core i3 processor to replace my early 2014 MacBook air with a 1.3 ghz Dual core i5 processor although I don't know what generation.

I want to spend as little as possible now which is why I am going for the basic set up. My concern is that the older MacBook seems to have a more powerful chip than the new one. Is that right or is the i3 chip in the new Mac being a tenth generation is better than an earlier generation i5?

Thanks for any help on this matter.

I had that one and just bought the 2020 one. I'm very happy with it performance wise. (Also the keyboard's action is a treat to write on.) I don't think you can do clock speed comparisons and draw conclusions, because, among other things, the RAM is much faster and the CoreiX series is now in its 10th generation. The 2020 will definitely cruise in a head-to-head with the 2014. I can't put metric on it myself, but I had both and I've without question noticed the difference.
