copying home made dvds

How do I copy my old homemade ( iDVD) dvds to external hard drives so they can be stored and later viewed? They were made with older mac computers using iDVD and iMovie and slideshows.

Mount the DVD in your optical drive. Open Disk Utility and use the File ➙ New Image ➙ Image from "name of DVD disc".

That will create a disk image of the DVD video disc which can be opened and played with DVD Player.
