icloud backup did retore deleted imessages

Today at 4pm I was on my iphone 11 chatting and somehow with my check I deleted all of my imessages except for 2. I looked and icloud said there was a backup done this morning. I hooked up to my computer at work because my battery was low. I reset my iphone and then used the icloud backup. My imessages did not come back. I have lots of data space left on icloud. Any suggestions.

Your messages did not return because they were deleted (accidentally as you mentioned) as you were using messages in iCloud - Keep all your messages in iCloud - Apple Support. As you were using this and accidentally deleted the messages, they are gone forever, I'm afraid.

If you weren't using messages in iCloud, you could've restored from a backup to retrieve those messages.
