iPhone 6 Plus with a broken home button that I want to factory reset.

I have an iphone 6 Plus with a broken home button. I have turned on Assistive Touch and this now works. I want to factory reset to give the phone to my daughter. Will a factory reset also turn off Assistive Touch, will I be able to set up phone again.

No you will not. Without a working home button you will not be able to complete setup. The home button is an essential piece of hardware and as with all essential hardware, eventually your only option is to get that hardware fixed.

You may actually be able to do this.

If you use iTunes to factory restore the device, it will boot up to the “Hello” screen when finished. You need to press Home to do so. However, if you hold the power button until “Slide to Power Off” shows up, power off the device using the slider, and then power the device back on, you should be able to continue the setup assistant. Just don’t let the screen lock before you finish!

Alternatively, you can use iTunes to turn on accessibility > voiceover once the phone is restored and double tap the “press home to open” text to proceed through setup.

To factory restore, you need to disable Find My in Settings first.
