Stocktwits iPhone app drains my battery overnight

I have this app called Stocktwits, which I use on a regular basis, and it's the second time I have noticed it completely drained my battery overnight.

The first time it went from 90% to about 20%, and it had used Gigabytes of mobile data.

Yesterday it took my phone from 73% all the way to 0%.

I have already disabled mobile data usage, but I don't know how to disable this app from running in the background. I don't actually ever want this app to run in the background.

There's no option for background app refresh. And the options in settings are limited to Siri, notifications and mobile battery usage. There's nothing about location usage or anything like that.

What else can I do? (Besides the obvious deleting of the app)

Hi there, ReginaldTheThird!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you're having an issue with an app draining your battery. Since the issue is specifically with the one app, I would recommend checking out this article If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open and follow the steps here:

"Reinstall the app

  • iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Open the Settings app. Tap General, then tap iPhone Storage (or iPad Storage). Tap the affected app, then tap Offload app. Tap Offload app again. Wait a moment for the app to offload, then tap Reinstall App."

Let us know the results and have a great day!
