Png images automatically converting to jpg

Hello, please assist, i am a digital artist using an iPad 6th generation and constantly save my images from drawing softwares like procreate as png , or jpg. It’s only recently I found every png I had previously saved has been flattened and converted to jpg. Now still every other png I try to save without a background is flatted onto a white background. I don’t know what’s causing this...

I'm not sure.

Before you try it, I noticed that the saved png which in Photo seems flattened, it actually keeps transparency. Not only on Mac as I already said. Even on iPad, if I share the png with any other app, the image has a transparent background.

By the way, contrary to the small macOS Big Sur png tested before, bigger png images aren't flattened on my iPad when saved from Safari to Photos.

I realize what you saying but isn’t it like that because it hasn’t gone under the conversion. Under the setting it says large Images and videos will go under conversion when the iPad is in low space. I think the optimize storage option you talked about is the one that caused this , maybe because I had low space as I have about 5gig currently free. Maybe it converted when it realized that storage on my iPad was becoming full maybe.
